Petersfield Ladies 9 United Services Portsmouth Ladies 0: AFTER suffering a heavy defeat against United Services in the early part of the season, Petersfield Ladies were looking for revenge.

Within ten minutes Petersfield had been awarded the first of many penalty corners. This was pushed out by Ivey to Sinclair, who stopped the ball, then Hedges struck the ball hard and it flew into the back of the goal. A quick clearance surprised the United Services defence, and Sinclair carried the ball from the 25-yard line past the defenders. Sinclair kept her composure and placed the ball past the keeper in the left corner of the goal. Just before the break, Petersfield were awarded another two short corners. The first was put into the goal by Simmons and the next by Ivey. At half time the score was 4-0 to Petersfield.

At the start of the second half United Services came out fighting. They went straight on the attack towards the Petersfield goal. Keeper May defended the ball well, but the ball hit a defenders foot. United Services carried out a very skilful short corner routine with the ball flying just wide of the right goal post. Petersfield responded and Eddy dribbled her way to the top of the D and banged the ball into the goal. Petersfield were non-stop in their pursuit of goals. This relentless pressure up front led to Sinclair scoring a further goal and Eddy scoring another two goals before the final whistle. The final score was 9-0 to Petersfield.
