THE 263RD running of Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun on Saturday saw 81 people run, jog and walk the course.

Thirteen were first timers, 14 recorded new personal bests and representatives from 16 running clubs took part.

It was a strong outing for Liss Runners on Saturday.

Eleven Liss Runners completed the course and several other members covered some of the volunteering positions, including run director Sandra Humphrey.

The first finisher was Liss Runner Ben Tyas, who crossed the line in a time of 18min 59secs.

The first woman home was another Liss Runner, Tamara Lake, who finished in 20th place overall in a new personal best time of 23min 28secs. Tamara also recorded the day’s highest age grade of 72.3 per cent.

The first junior runner was Marcus Taylor, who finished in 25th place overall in a time of 24min 16secs.

The event was made possible by 14 volunteers who helped out on the day – they were Lorna Richard, Sarah Wade, Kevin McTaggart, Daniel Phoenix, Penny Johnstone, Duncan Johnstone, John Collis, Sandra Humphrey, Ella Collis, Jack Bartram, Pippa White, Tanya Roberts, Frances Rose and John Roberts.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun is a free, timed, 5km run that is open to all ages and abilities. It takes place at the park every Saturday at 9am.
