Romsey 3 Petersfield 5: PETERSFIELD travelled to Romsey in their last fixture before the Christmas break.

Petersfield started well and controlled the pace of the game. The visitors created a number of chances, but they were unable to break the deadlock.

Petersfield fell behind when Romsey hit them on the counter attack, leaving limited defensive numbers, and keeper Smith was unable to prevent the goal.

The visitors remained calm and equalised with a deflected goal from Terry. Petersfield then took the lead when Atkinson swept a close-range shot into the corner of the goal.

Petersfield started the second half brightly and quickly grabbed a third goal through forward Harris after a well-worked attack.

Romsey won a number of penalty corners, and they reduced their deficit when a foul inside the circle led to a penalty flick, which narrowly squeezed past the gloves of the diving Smith.

The visitors sprung back into action after conceding a second goal and Harris dribbled past four men, weaving his way into the circle before unleashing a reverse strike into the bottom corner.

Petersfield continued to attack, relentlessly pushing towards Romsey’s goal, and Atkinson scored Petersfield’s fifth goal of the day.

The visitors then conceded a second penalty flick, which Romsey converted to conclude the scoreline at 5-3.

Petersfield are in eighth place in the Hampshire Division 1 table, and their next fixture is at second-placed Hamble on January 12.
