ALRESFORD Town and Horndean will both begin their 2016-17 Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division campaigns in the next week.

The Magpies start their league campaign with a trip to Test Park to face Team Solent on Monday evening (7.45pm).

Alresford will be looking to improve on their efforts last season, when they finished second-bottom and were reprieved from relegation Division 1.

Team Solent enjoyed an impressive campaign in 2015-16, when they finished in seventh place in the Premier Division.

The Magpies drew 3-3 at home to Team Solent last season, but lost the away game 4-1.

The Deans start their campaign 24 hours later, with a trip to The Wicor Recreation Ground to face AFC Portchester on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

New Horndean boss Michael Birmingham will be hoping to build on the good work at Five Heads Park last season, when the Deans finished in fifth place in the Premier Division, which was their best ever finish in the division.

AFC Portchester finished just two points behind Horndean last season, in sixth place.

The Deans lost 3-0 at AFC Portchester last season, but won 3-2 at Five Heads Park.
