ALRESFORD Town had a mixed week, as they followed up a heavy cup defeat with a convincing league win.

The Magpies started their week with a 5-1 defeat at Lymington Town in the third round of the Sydenhams League Cup last Tuesday night.

Jake King gave the home side the lead in the 27th minute, although Aaron Blaxall equalised for Alresford on 34 minutes. King made it 2-1 to Lymington in the 39th minute, and King then completed his hat-trick on 46 minutes.

Charlie Willett scored the home side’s fourth goal in the 79th minute, and Mike Gosney made it 5-1 to Lymington on 87 minutes.

Alresford bounced back from that disappointment as they won 3-0 at Cowes Sports in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Sam Burt and Luke Rae (2) gave the Magpies the three points.
