ALRESFORD Town continued their excellent start to the season with two wins in two cup competitions in the past week.

The Magpies started their week with a 5-0 victory at home to Colden Common in the second round of the Southampton Senior Cup last Tuesday night.

Mike Gosney and Duarte Martins were both on the scoresheet twice, and Scott Munro was also on target, as the home side soared to a comprehensive victory against a side two divisions lower.

Alresford then won 4-3 at Hamworthy United in the second round of the Sydenhams League Cup on Saturday.

Harrison White gave the home side the lead in the ninth minute, and Dan Cann doubled Hamworthy’s advantage on 20 minutes.

Martins pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 28th minute, and Martins scored his second of the match on 52 minutes to get the Magpies back on level terms.

White scored his second of the game in the 64th minute to put Hamworthy 3-2 up, but Craig Harding got Alresford back on level terms again when he scored on 76 minutes to make it 3-3.

Harding then scored Alresford’s winner in the 79th minute to complete a fine comeback victory.
