Alresford Town 0 Blackfield & Langley 5: THE MAGPIES were dumped out of the FA Vase at the first time of asking by a Blackfield side that looked superior in all areas of the field.
To add to their woes, Alresford suffered two serious injuries that look likely to deprive them of the services of key players for several weeks.
On seven minutes a piercing through ball from midfield found Sam Lanahan in space, and the midfielder chipped John Howard from the right side of the area to give his side the lead.
Soon after that Alresford lost Andy Turner to a twisted ankle, Ben Unsworth coming on for his first team debut.
The second goal arrived on 36 minutes. Jesse Gould’s pass cut through the back four, and Robinson’s accomplished finish made it 2-0.
The visitors added a third goal on 47 minutes from a break down the right, Dan Munday bundling the ball home under pressure at the near post.
The Magpies’ next misfortune came on 67 minutes when midfield general Simon Everett was forced off with a hamstring pull. Tom Donaldson joined the fray.
Two goals in the final three minutes of the game underlined Blackfield and Langley’s superiority.
Firstly, Sam Poole’s header from a corner came down off the underside of the crossbar and Lanahan made sure from close range.
A minute from time Munday side-footed home Howard’s attempted clearance to make it 5-0 and it was definitely game, set and match to the visitors.
