ALRESFORD Town were victorious last Tuesday night, when they beat United Services Portsmouth 2-1 at Arlebury Park in the third round of the Sydenhams League Cup.

James Franklyn gave the visitors the lead in the first half, but the hosts turned the tie around after the break.

Craig McAllister got the hosts back on level terms, and Mike Gosney scored from the penalty spot to send Alresford through to the next round.
