ALRESFORD Town are out of the Buildbase FA Vase though after slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Newport IOW on Saturday afternoon.

Steve Hall broke the deadlock for the Magpies in the first half, but Scott Sampson equalised for Newport in the second half.

Jared Wetherick then scored the winner for the home side.

Alresford Town went through in the Hampshire Senior Cup after drawing 3-3 at home to Combined Counties League Division 1 side Eversley and California last Wednesday night (September 20).

Aaron Blaxall, Geoff Dunn and Sam Doswell scored for the Magpies, while Bradley Brown (2) and Adam Aimable were on target for Eversley and California.

Alresford then won a penalty shoot-out 5-4 to seal their place in the next round.
