ALRESFORD Town were hit by injuries and decisions by the match officials during their 5-2 defeat at league leaders Andover Town on Saturday.

The home side netted three penalties during a game where both sides were left scratching their heads over some of the decisions made.

The Magpies had to bring in players from their development squad and they made two signings from Sutton United’s academy to boost squad numbers for this game.

Manny Yeboah and Ben White scored for Alresford.

Manager Richard Luffman said after the game: “We started the better side, played some nice stuff but in an even game we have come off bruised by decisions.

“We all respect refs and the job they do but you can’t get away from some very bizzare penalty calls.”

Alresford travel to Shaftesbury in the league on Saturday and are away to Hamble Club next Tuesday in the League Cup.
