ALRESFORD Town’s 11-match unbeaten run in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division has come to an end after the Magpies slipped to a 3-1 defeat at home to league leaders Moneyfields on Saturday afternoon.
Alresford had won eight and drawn three of their last 11 league games, but the Magpies fell behind when Gary Austin gave the visitors the lead at Arlebury Park.
Steve Hutchings’ penalty then doubled Moneyfields’ advantage and gave Dave Carter’s side a 2-0 lead at half time.
The Magpies pulled a goal back in the second half when Scott Munro flicked on Tom Ashton’s cross and Tom Sands chested the ball down and rifled it into the top corner of the goal to make it 2-1.
Sands had another shot saved as Alresford looked for an equaliser, but Hutchings then claimed his second goal of the afternoon to make it 3-1 to Moneyfields and wrap up the three points for the visitors.
