ALRESFORD Town are through to the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup after winning 2-1 at Bridport on Saturday in the Extra Preliminary Round.

Tom Sands and Craig Harding scored the goals that sealed Alresford’s place in the next round of the famous competition.

The Magpies will travel to Wimborne Town in the Preliminary Round.

Horndean are out of the FA Cup though after slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Bashley on Saturday in the Extra Preliminary Round. Mark Smith scored the Deans’ goal.

Horndean enjoyed a better start to their Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division campaign last Tuesday night though, as they earned an impressive 2-1 win at AFC Portchester.

Liss Athletic, Liphook United and Clanfield all started their Hampshire Premier League Senior Division campaigns on Saturday. Liss drew 3-3 at home to Locks Heath thanks to goals from Dan Sharpe (2) and Oli Sturt.

Clanfield won 5-0 at home to Overton United thanks to goals from Cam Palin (2), Darren Ferguson (2) and Matt Kirby.

Liphook won 8-2 at home to Hedge End Rangers thanks to goals from Marcus Bedford (4), Toby Hutchins (2) and Steve Harding (2).
