LISS Athletic manager Rich Bessey hopes the club find a solution to their ground problems and can be promoted to the Wessex League.
The team’s promotion hopes face a major obstacle after the Wessex League raised issues with their ground.
Liss play their football at the Newman Collard Playing Fields, and the Wessex League insist that the club must install a fence around the pitch if they want to join the league next season.
Bessey’s side are taking care of business on the pitch, and they are in second place in the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division.
Bessey is currently considering the possibility of Liss ground-sharing with Petersfield Town Football Club.
“I think moving to Petersfield is the only option,” said Bessey.
“The positives are that they are our neighbours and they have a Southern League set-up. The negative is that it may only be temporary.
“If Petersfield say yes we will probably have to spend another season in the Hampshire League and then get promoted.
“We also wanted to see if the Wessex League would let us put up a temporary fence at Newman Collard for match days only, but the league have said we can’t do that.
“Unfortunately I think Liss Athletic will never play Wessex League football at Newman Collard.
“I’m meeting Peter Storrie to see if there is anything we can do to get promoted.
“Peter has a wealth of contacts in the game and hopefully he knows somebody at the FA who can help us.”
