HORNDEAN will be gunning for glory on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Royal Wootton Bassett Town at Five Heads Park in the Second Round Proper of the FA Vase (3pm).
The Deans are the last East Hampshire side remaining in the FA Vase, and boss Michael Birmingham is expecting a difficult match against a Royal Wotton Bassett side which plays in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
“It will be a very tough game,” said Birmingham.
“They (Royal Wootton Bassett Town) are very well drilled and they’re a very good side.
“We’ve had them watched and I also know a couple of people in their league.
“It would be great to win another game in the FA Vase, and for me this competition is all about the players.
“No matter what we do, it is down to the players.
“I’m under no false pretences though as they will be a very well organised outfit.”
Horndean have reached this stage of the FA Vase after winning 4-3 at home to Andover Town in the First Round Qualifying, 2-0 away to Knaphill in the Second Round Qualifying, and 1-0 away to Portland United in the First Round Proper.
