HORNDEAN manager Michael Birmingham was delighted with his side’s reaction after they beat Hamworthy United 3-0 in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Bobby Scott (2) and Dan Sackman gave the Deans the three points.

“We did discuss a few home truths in the week,” said Birmingham.

“It was a good reaction against a good side.

“We know we’re good enough to beat teams, and we could have been 3-0 up at half time.

“We had to make all three substitutions as we had some slight injuries, and in the last 15 minutes Hamworthy could have made it 3-3.”

The Deans were also in action last Tuesday night, when a youthful side lost 1-0 at Cowes Sports in the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup.

Jez Conway scored the only goal of the game in the first minute to send Cowes through to the second round.
