PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill was disappointed with his side after their 1-0 defeat against Whitchurch United at Love Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Aaron Randall scored the only goal of the game to give the visitors the three points.
And Summerhill didn’t hold back his words after the defeat.
“It was one of the most frustrating games of my life,” said Petersfield’s manager.
“Yet again we dominated and had ten opportunities to score in the first half. We missed four or five golden chances and we hit the bar.
“I thought if we had a repeat performance we would score in the second half, but we didn’t. Whitchurch scored with a free kick from 25 yards and we missed chance after chance.”
The Rams tried to find an equaliser late on, although their momentum was disrupted when captain Kris Stephens was sent to the sin bin for ten minutes.
“Kris was sin binned with 15 minutes to go, which was a critical time when we were on top,” said Summerhill.
“Our final ball was poor and I have to question our desire in the six-yard box to score.
“We need to make Love Lane a fortress. We had a very honest and frank conversation after the game.”
Despite a third straight league defeat, Summerhill is remaining positive.
He added: “The league is our bread and butter, and we’ve got to nip this run in the bud. We’re close to being a good side.”
