PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill says his side have nothing to fear ahead of their trip to Bournemouth in the first round proper of the FA Vase on Saturday.

The Rams will be travelling to their Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division opponents in excellent form.

Petersfield have already beaten AFC Stoneham and Sherborne Town to reach this stage of the competition, and Summerhill wants his side to enjoy the contest against their higher-ranked opponents.

“We fancy ourselves on Saturday going to Bournemouth,” he said. “We’re massive underdogs, and the week off without a midweek game couldn’t have come at a better time.

“Matt Low was away last weekend, and we’re hoping to have Harry Tremlett back on Saturday. It is encouraging that we can get results with key players missing.

“We will recover before Saturday as a lot of lads have played a lot of football.

“It is a free hit for us. Teams in the league above have got quality, but we go there in good spirits and we won’t go there in better form.

“This is the most games we’ve won to get to the first round proper of the FA Vase, and it will enhance the feelgood factor at the club if we can progress to the next round.

“We’re regularly getting crowds in the 90s now and we’re hiring a coach to take supporters to Bournemouth.”

Anyone who would like a space on Petersfield Town’s supporters’ coach to Bournemouth should contact the club on either its Facebook or Twitter page.

Summerhill has also added to his backroom staff, with Ryan Covey joining the club as goalkeeping coach.

“Ryan will travel with the first team to matches,” said Summerhill.

“He’s a big lad and he’ll also provide goalkeeping cover.”
