PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill believes his side could be entering a defining period of the season.

The Rams convincingly won 5-0 at Folland Sports on Saturday to move up to ninth place in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League.

And Summerhill is hoping for another positive result when his side travel to 12th-placed Andover Town this Saturday (3pm).

“We’ve got a big run of games coming up with Andover away and Fawley at home,” said Summerhill.

“We’ve still got games in hand and could go fourth. We wanted to be mid-table at this time of year to have a chance.”

The Rams drew 0-0 at home to Andover earlier this season, and Summerhill is expecting another tough test for his side.

He said: “Andover will be really tough. They’re much improved this year. They’ve got links with Sparsholt College and they’ve also got some experience now and some steel.

“We want to go and get a result on Saturday. They’re a big club and it’s a nice place to go.

“We’ll approach the game the same way we did at Folland and see how it goes.

“After three points on Saturday, if we get a point at Andover and then beat Fawley seven points would be an excellent return. We’ll go to Andover on the front foot, though, as our confidence is so high.”

Summerhill is looking to strengthen his squad if possible after striker Gari Judd left the club.

“Gari has left the club and getting a striker in is at the top of my list,” said the Rams boss. “Nothing is lined up yet though.

“New recruit Joe Roberts was in the squad for the first time against Folland on Saturday, which was pleasing.

“Joe is a centre back, but he can also play at full back or in midfield, so he helps strengthen our squad.”
