BUSINESS as usual – that’s the message from Petersfield Town after chairman Andy Vernon stood down from the role last week.

The Rams are looking for their third chairman in three months after Vernon decided to leave Love Lane just two months after replacing his predecessor Tim Scott during the summer.

However, acting chairman Graeme Moir said there were no major issues or problems for supporters to be concerned about and the club will continue to push forward as it has been doing.

Moir said: “I?was saddened to learn that Andy had decided to step down.

“He has done a lot for the club and I?would like to thank him for everything he has done for us – he has guided us through a lot of changes in the summer and helped to set us up for Southern League football.

“But we continue as normal at Love Lane. We have made a strong start to the season both on and off the field and we have some new people on board behind the scenes who are going to make a huge difference for the club.

“It’s business as usual for us and we continue our work of driving this club forwards and upwards.”

The Rams will not be rushing into making a new chairman appointment as the hunt for the new person to lead them began.

Moir added: “We need to make sure we appoint the right person for the club. We have a committed group of people running things at the moment so there is no rush.”
