PETERSFIELD Town striker Billy Connor has pledged his immediate future to the Rams and talked about his pride in playing for his home town club.

The 18-year-old forward made his debut for the Rams last season in the Southern League, netting nine goals from 21 appearances as the club were relegated from Division 1 Central.

His good form attracted the attention of a number of clubs last summer and he headed to Moneyfields during the close season.

However, a lack of regular game time saw him weigh up his options for the rest of this season and Connor decided to head back home to Petersfield in November.

In the last week Connor has turned down a move to one of the leading clubs in the Wessex Premier Division to concentrate on gaining more time out on the pitch in familiar surroundings.

He said: “I feel like Petersfield is the best place to be for me now.

“After the rocky start to my season I was offered the chance to play football and get some minutes and experience under my belt.

“It’s been good since my return as I am in familiar surroundings and I have good connections with the fans and committee here.

“Petersfield is a great club. Obviously the last two seasons in terms of results haven’t been amazing but the spirit is always great.

“As this is my home town, it is always great playing in your home colours and representing where you live.”
