ANOTHER one of Petersfield Town’s Wessex Premier Division winners has returned to the club.

Midfielder Danny Thompson has signed for the Rams for the rest of the season and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s home game against Brockenhurst.

Thompson made 44 appearances for the Rams and scored five goals during their title winning season in 2014-15, which led to promotion to the Southern League.

He went on to make 12 appearances during the 2015-16 season in Petersfield’s first campaign at step four level of the non-league pyramid system.

He is keen to pull on the club’s red and black colours again and isn’t planning on coasting through the rest of the season either.

Thompson said: “I would just like to say it’s nice to be back at Petersfield – unfortunately not so nice to see us rooted to the bottom of the Wessex League Premier Division.

“I’m looking forward to working with Mark Summerhill and the rest of the staff and hopefully help the young squad on and off the pitch that they have acquired.

“We have 14 league games left and although it’s not looking good, we will be doing all we can to get as many points as possible between now and the end of the season.

“Hopefully the fans will see that the lads are giving it their all and will continue their support between now and the end of the season.”
