THE WAIT is finally over for East Hampshire’s football teams as the new season begins this weekend.
After fine-tuning their preparations in pre-season, clubs face a busy first week of fixtures to start the campaign.
In the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday, Alresford Town will travel to the Weyline Stadium to face Portland United (3pm), while Horndean are scheduled to host Christchurch at Five Heads Park (3pm).
Next Tuesday night, August 7, Alresford will entertain Sholing at Arlebury Park (7.45pm), while Horndean will host Hamble Club at Five Heads Park (7.45pm).
Alresford finished seventh in the Premier Division table last season, while Horndean finished fourth, and both clubs will be hoping to build on those achievements this campaign.
In the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division on Saturday, Liss Athletic will host Bush Hill at the Newman Collard Playing Fields (3pm), Liphook United are on the road and will travel to Athletico Romsey (3pm) and Clanfield will entertain Stockbridge at Peel Park (3pm).
Next Tuesday night, August 7, Liss will host Hayling United at the Newman Collard Playing Fields (6.45pm).
Next Wednesday night, August 8, Clanfield will entertain Liphook United at Peel Park in an East Hampshire derby (6.45pm).
Liphook United finished fourth in the Senior Division last season, while Liss Athletic finished in in sixth place and Clanfield finished in eighth place.
