Farnham Town suffered late heartbreak as they slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League South.
Sam Evans’ equaliser had got the Town back on level terms, but Archie Tamplin’s 88th-minute winner gave the Daggers all three points in front of a crowd of 2,218 at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Dagenham took the lead in the 31st minute when Charles Clayden smashed his left-footed effort past Farnham keeper Michael Eacott into the right-hand corner of the net.
The Town responded well to going behind and nearly equalised on 36 minutes when Rakish Bingham’s effort was saved by Daggers keeper Nathan Ashmore.
Farnham had another opportunity a minute later when Bobby-Joe Taylor cut inside onto his right foot and blasted his shot over the bar from inside the box.
The visitors went close again in the 41st minute when Owen Dean found space down the right and pulled the ball back to Billy Clifford, whose shot was held by Ashmore.
The Town had another good chance three minutes later when Bingham’s left-footed effort forced a brilliant diving save from Ashmore.
Farnham equalised on 82 minutes when Evans pinched the ball off Ashmore and calmly finished into the empty net.
The Daggers regained the lead in the 88th minute when Tamplin fired a superb right-footed finish across goal into the bottom left-hand corner.
Farnham nearly equalised a minute later when Darryl Sanders’ right-footed effort from the edge of the box went just wide of the left-hand post.
The Town went close again in stoppage time when Clifford’s dipping effort was tipped behind by Ashmore.
Farnham went even closer when Clifford’s cross was headed back across goal by Evans to Jack Dean, whose close-range effort was tipped onto the post by Ashmore before Andy Carroll cleared the loose ball off the line.
