Farnham Town extended their unbeaten run to four games in the National League South with a 2-1 win at Folkestone Invicta.

Goals from Owen Dean and Rakish Bingham fired the Town to all three points in front of a crowd of 981 at the Alcaline Stadium.

The Town were quick out of the traps and took the lead in the seventh minute when Darryl Sanders’ ball over the top found Dean, who drove forward before emphatically firing home his right-footed finish from the edge of the box into the roof of the net past Folkestone keeper Ted Collins.

Farnham went close to scoring a second when Sanders’ right-footed shot from outside the box was parried by Collins to Billy Clifford, whose follow-up shot was superbly blocked by Collins.

The visitors created another good opportunity when Dean slipped a pass through to Sam Evans, whose left-footed strike was parried behind for a corner by Collins at his near post.

The Town had the ball in the back of the net on 44 minutes when an impressive team move ended with Evans squaring the ball for Clifford to tap home, but the assistant referee raised his flag for offside.

Farnham manager Paul Johnson made his first substitution of the afternoon at half-time, with Mat Mackenzie replacing Josh Tobin.

Mackenzie almost put the Town 2-0 up in the 65th minute when the ball sat up nicely for him to strike on the volley, but his powerful effort was tipped behind for a corner by Collins.

Folkestone got themselves back on level terms four minutes later when Jamie Fielding’s inviting delivery across the face of goal was tapped in at the back post by former Portsmouth, Ipswich Town and AFC Wimbledon striker Joe Pigott.

Johnson made a triple substitution on 69 minutes, with Bingham, Erion Zabeli and Louie Holzman replacing Evans, Sam Hutchinson and Aaron Williams Fernandez.

Farnham nearly went 2-1 up in the 72nd minute when Sanders played the ball wide to Dean, whose low strike was grasped by Collins at the second attempt.

The Town did regain the lead on 84 minutes when patient play from the visitors culminated in Dean playing the ball inside for Bingham, who spun sharply before firing his left-footed effort past Collins into the roof of the net.

Farnham saw out the closing stages to make it ten points out of a possible 12 from their past four games.
