PLAYERS, officials and supporters involved in non-league football across East Hampshire were left with a blank Saturday thanks to the bad weather.
The Wessex, Hampshire and Wyvern Leagues cancelled all of their matches scheduled for today (Saturday) after heavy snowfall on Thursday this week.
Constant sub zero temperatures throughout the week were already putting games in doubt but the covering of snow, including on Alton’s all-weather pitch, reduced the chances of any matches being played to zero.
Pitch conditions as well as the situation on the roads and public
transport, were both considered by league officials before the decisions to postpone all matches were taken yesterday.
The Wessex League programme scheduled for today has now been pencilled in in full for Easter Monday, with other matches scheduled for that week postponed to be rearranged for other dates.
