A FORMER Petersfield Town player is about to make his Football League debut after being signed by League 1 side Bristol Rovers.
Tom Broadbent has been snapped up by the West Country outfit after impressing Rovers boss Darrell Clarke during pre-season training and some appearances in friendly matches.
The defender made five appearances in total for the Rams during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.
His most high profile appearance for the club was in the Wessex League Cup final in May 2014, when Petersfield were thrashed 7-2 by Alresford Town.
Last season the 25-year-old played for Hayes and Yeading and he also played for the Army side.
On signing Broadbent, Clarke told Rovers’ official website: “Although he hasn’t played league football before, Tom has vast experience gained from playing non-league football and representative football for the Army.
“He has impressed during pre-season training and in the games he has featured in and will prove to be an excellent addition to our squad.”
Rovers start their league campaign on Saturday with a trip to Charlton Athletic.
