HORNDEAN picked up a valuable three points with a 4-1 victory away at Andover New Street in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division last Tuesday night.

Alfie Lis broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 17th minute, and Mark Smith doubled Horndean’s advantage on 20 minutes.

Zac Hine pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 36th minute, but Smith scored his second and Horndean’s third of the evening on 42 minutes.

Harry Jackson completed the scoring when he made it 4-1 to the Deans in the 58th minute.

Horndean manager Michael Birmingham said: “It was a freezing cold night at Andover and they were better than us for the first 15 minutes of the match.

“The pitch was starting to cut up and was very rutty.

“We came away unscathed, though, and it was great for Mark to get his two goals as it was his first start in a little while.”
