HORNDEAN earned a second successive victory with a 4-2 win at home to Shaftesbury in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.

The Deans got off to a quick start and took the lead thanks to an early goal from Jack Lee. However, the visitors got themselves back on level terms and the scores were level at half time at 1-1.

The home side regained the lead in the second half through Bobby Scott’s penalty, and Josh McCormack scored Horndean’s third goal.

Scott then scored his second of the afternoon to make it 4-1, before the visitors scored a late consolation.

Horndean manager Michael Birmingham was happy his side managed to pick up the three points.

He said: “We went 1-0 up early on but then took our foot off the pedal.

“We got better in the second half and it was nice to pick up the three points.”
