PETERSFIELD Town had a real problem with a fox in the box last week – but it had nothing to do with a troublesome striker.
The referee had to temporarily call a halt to the Hampshire Senior Cup tie against Hythe and Dibden at Love Lane last Wednesday evening due to the unlikely visitor in the penalty area. Despite several attempts to move the pitch invader on, he kept coming back for a closer look at the game throughout the second half.
Two foxes have moved into the Love Lane stadium and their loud calls can often make it an eerie-sounding place during the evenings.
However, during last Wednesday’s match one of the foxes decided to take a closer look at the action by stretching out for a rest in the penalty area.
Rams keeper Anthony Ender tried to move the trespasser on several times but the fox was not for moving. At one stage the referee asked for help from the Petersfield bench to remove the intruder.
