FRIENDS, families and supporters of Petersfield Cricket Club came together at the Heath on Saturday in a charity sixes competition to raise money for cancer charities CLIC Sargent and Hospice at Home in memory of former player Matt Salmon, who lost a brave battle against the disease earlier this year, aged only 25.
Nearly £900 was raised at the event, organised by Matt’s friends, Frank Straw and Catherine Swan, which included a raffle for signed shirts from the Harlequins rugby team and Surrey Stars women’s cricket squad. On a glorious autumn day and in front of an enthusiastic crowd, six teams battled it out for the trophy, which was won by the Petersfield Dragons VI squad of Angie Clarke, Marcus Sampson, Heather Clarke, Ben Turk, Dave Marshall and Richard Thomas.
