HORNDEAN had a mixed week with a win and a defeat in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.
The Deans started their week with a 2-0 defeat at home to fellow high-fliers Bournemouth last Tuesday night.
The visitors took the lead in the 30th minute through Ron Frost’s goal, and Sami Makhloufi doubled Bournemouth’s lead on 68 minutes.
The Deans were reduced to ten men at 1-0 down when Fuzz Kanjanda was given his second yellow card.
Horndean then bounced back with a 1-0 win at home to Bashley on Saturday afternoon.
Jack Maloney’s penalty in the 77th minute gave the Five Heads Park outfit the three points. The visitors had been reduced to ten men in the first half.
Horndean manager Michael Birmingham said: “Bashley gave us a difficult game.
“They had a player sent off and went to five at the back and four in midfield. We stayed patient, although may be we were too patient.
“It was nice to keep a clean sheet as we’ve let some soft goals in recently. We can improve, but the most important thing was getting the three points.”
