AFC Portchester 2 Horndean 4: HORNDEAN earned an excellent three points against fellow Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division high-fliers AFC Portchester last Tuesday night.
The visitors surged forward with pace several times during the first half, creating a number of good chances.
Horndean took the lead on 31 minutes after they had broken well down the left wing. Fuzz Kanjanda sent a low cross into the near post area and as Olly Searle tried to clear the danger he put the ball into his own net.
The hosts equalised just two minutes into the second half. A corner from the left was missed by everyone as it flashed across the face of goal and it was bundled in at the far post by Jamie Ford.
The Deans restored their lead on 78 minutes when the ball was played across the face of goal before substitute Alfie Lis converted it into the corner of the net.
Horndean netted their third goal on 88 minutes. A long diagonal ball across the pitch was missed by Portchester keeper Ryan Young as it bounced on the edge of the area and it went through to Harry Jackson, who rolled his shot into an empty net.
The visitors made it 4-1 in the 90th minute when they broke past the home defence. This time the ball was played in from the right and Lis knocked his shot home from close range.
Portchester netted a consolation goal three minutes into injury time when they broke quickly down the right hand side and when the ball was squared across goal Dan Simmonds was on hand to tuck away his shot.
