HORNDEAN enjoyed a good week as they picked up four points out of a possible six in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

The Five Heads Park outfit started their week with a thrilling 5-3 victory at Amesbury Town last Tuesday night.

The Deans trailed three times, but equalised each time thanks to goals from Ash Howes, Harry Jackson and Mark Smith. Connor Millar (2) and Luke Greenway scored Amesbury’s goals.

Benny Reed’s brace then gave Horndean the three points.

The Deans then drew 1-1 at home to Brockenhurst on Saturday.

Leon Carbayo-Borges gave the visitors the lead in the 43rd minute, but Jackson equalised for Horndean on 80 minutes to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.

Deans boss Michael Birmingham said: “We showed good character to come back three times at Amesbury and win.

“We were then excellent against Brockenhurst and we dominated possession. It was a very heavy pitch which cut up, but we didn’t slip into any bad habits and we took the elements out of it.

“I was happy with our performance but a bit disappointed we didn’t win the game.”
