HORNDEAN finished their season in style with a comprehensive victory.
The Deans won 6-1 at home to Cowes Sports in their final Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division fixture of the campaign.
The visitors took the lead at Five Heads Park through John McKie’s penalty in the tenth minute, but Alfie Lis equalised for Horndean on 17 minutes.
Benny Read’s goal in the 45th minute gave the Deans a 2-1 lead at half time.

Lis scored his second and Horndean’s fourth goal of the afternoon in the 68th minute, and Sean McMonagle got on the scoresheet on 70 minutes to make it 5-1.
Jackson completed the scoring for the day when he scored his second and Horndean’s sixth on 90 minutes.
Horndean manager Michael Birmingham said: “We lost on the opening day of the season at home to Christchurch, and we didn’t want a repeat in our last game.
“It took us 15 minutes to get into the game, and it had a bit of an end-of-season feel.
“We went 1-0 down, and rightly so, but we equalised with a bit of quality.
“The third goal was a killer, and we were ruthless in front of goal.”
The Deans had already sealed their second-place finish before the game, and the win meant they finished the campaign on 74 points.
Birmingham said: “We’re happy to finish in second place, but we’re disappointed with the gap to Sholing.”
