Horndean have to settle for point after late goal

HORNDEAN had to settle for a share of the spoils as they drew 1-1 at Lymington Town in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday.

Greg Peel gave the Five Heads Park outfit the lead in the second half, but Dom Falco’s equaliser earned Lymington a share of the spoils.

The point leaves the Deans in ninth place in the table.

Horndean manager Michael Birmingham said: “If you said before the game we’d go to Lymington on an atrocious pitch and get a point, I would have been happy.

“We were on the front foot in the second half and took the lead with a good goal by Greg.

“Conceding a late equaliser meant it felt like a loss, but it’s never an easy place to go.”

League leaders Alresford Town also picked up a point as they drew 1-1 at Christchurch in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

Jon Blake gave the home side the lead in the 16th minute, but Lukas McCartney’s equaliser on 26 minutes earned the Magpies a share of the spoils.
