HORNDEAN are in seventh place in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division after drawing 1-1 against Fawley at Five Heads Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Deans made a bright start to the match and took the lead in the sixth minute through Matt Burt’s volley. The Oilers almost equalised in the first half when Lewis Ross’ effort from 25 yards hit the post, but the Deans led 1-0 at the break.

Fawley then hit the crossbar in the second half, and Josh Maloney had the opportunity to give the Deans a 2-0 lead but his effort hit the post.

Fawley then won a penalty in the 71st minute, and Dan Fry scored it to earn the visitors a share of the points.

The Deans were also in action last Thursday night, when they earned a creditable 0-0 draw against Sholing at Five Heads Park.
