HORNDEAN manager Michael Birmingham was disappointed with how his side defended set pieces during their 4-3 defeat at Lymington Town in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.

Sam Hookey, Jack Maloney and Mark Smith were on target for the visitors, but goals from Steve Flynn (2) and Tim Stephenson (2) gave the home side the three points.

“Our defending from set pieces was a shambles,” said Birmingham.

“We scored three very good goals and were decent with the ball on a difficult pitch, but until we defend set pieces better we will continue to drop points.

“Lymington didn’t have any shots on goal in open play, but you can’t have to score four goals away from home to get a point.

“Scoring three goals should have given us the win, but the way we defended was unbelievable.”
