HORNDEAN had a mixed week as they followed an emphatic home win with an away defeat in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.
The Deans started their week with a 4-1 victory at home to Tadley Calleva in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.
The Five Heads Park outfit took the lead in the 11th minute through Zach Glasspool’s goal, and the hosts led 1-0 at half time.
Jake Nicholls equalised for Tadley Calleva on 47 minutes, but Harry Jackson restored Horndean’s lead in the 50th minute.
An own goal on 51 minutes made it 3-1 to the Deans, and Glasspool scored his second and Horndean’s fourth goal of the night when he made it 4-1 in the 86th minute.
Horndean then slipped to a 1-0 defeat at league leaders Sholing in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.
Jake Hoole’s goal in the 86th minute was enough to give the home side the three points.
Sholing have won all 14 of their league games so far this season, but the Deans acquitted themselves well and gave the league leaders a tough match.
Horndean manager Michael Birmingham said: “We were the better side in the first half against Sholing and created some half chances.
“Sholing then went for us at the start of the second half, but we got through that and grew into the game and created some good chances.
“We had a good win against Tadley. At half time we had to address a few things, but in the second half we were very good.”
