HORNDEAN have finished the season in fifth place in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division after four matches in the last week.
The Deans have been playing catch-up after a series of matches were postponed at their Five Heads Park home earlier in the season.
Horndean’s week got off to a bad start with a 2-1 defeat at home to Brockenhurst last Tuesday night.
Jack Burrows gave the visitors the lead in the 32nd minute, although Robbie Tambling equalised for the hosts in the 61st minute.
Ryan Long then scored on 84 minutes to give the visitors the three points.
The Deans then slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Moneyfields on Thursday night against former manager Dave Carter’s new side.
Dan Woodward and Robbie Pittman scored the goals which gave the hosts the win.
Horndean returned to winning ways when they beat AFC Portchester 3-2 at Five Heads Park on Saturday.
Sam Smart gave the hosts the lead in the 27th minute, and Lee Tigwell made it 2-0 to the Deans on 60 minutes.
Former Pompey player Jack Maloney made it 3-0 to the hosts on 81 minutes, although Jason Parish pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 85th minute. Portchester scored a second goal in stoppage time, but the hosts held on for the three points.
The Deans ended their season on the perfect note, winning 1-0 at home to Newport IOW on Monday night.
Josh Maloney’s goal in the 14th minute ensured Horndean finished their season with a victory.
