THE BRAINCHILD of a group of football mad Year 6 boys from Harting Primary School came to fruition on Sunday, as 20 Harting children aged between seven and 11 years old played football non-stop for eight hours to raise money for two charities, The Gauchers Association and Sport Relief.

Despite the freezing weather the children attacked their challenge with energy, enthusiasm and commitment. They kept the football in play from 8.30am to 4.30pm and scored an impressive 192 goals.

At the end of the eight hours the children were exhausted but still found the energy to jump for joy when they found out they had raised more than £2,000 for their chosen charities. It was an amazing achievement by all the children.

Organisers thanked the Harting Recreation Ground committee for marking out the pitches and getting up early to put on the heating, and all the sponsors for their generous donations.
