ALRESFORD Town slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Hamworthy United in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.

The game was goalless at the break, but the Magpies suffered a big blow when goalkeeper Jordan Tewkesbury went off injured and Conor Whiteley took over between the sticks.

Sean Wright and Sam Bayston scored in the second half to give Hamworthy the three points.

The Magpies were meant to travel to Tadley Calleva for a league match last Tuesday night, but the fixture was postponed because of snow on Tadley’s pitch.
