The lights went out on Petersfield Town’s historic first ever home game in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division 1 Central on Wednesday night.
The Rams held a commanding 4-0 lead at half time but when the two teams came back out on to the pitch for the second half, the Love Lane floodlights system failed.
The referee then abandoned the match, meaning both sides will have to play again - the date for the new match has yet to be announced.
Petersfield were scoring at will in the first half and it would have been interesting to see what the final score would have ended up at.
Michael Dixon opened the scoring on 11 minutes when he put the ball home at the second attempt and then Luke Walker’s long range effort took a deflection to take it past the Fleet keeper and into the net four minutes later.
Joe Briggs fired home a spectacular 30 yard goal when he curled his shot into the corner on 28 minutes.
Dixon then got his second goal of the match two minutes before half time when he turned his marker and fired a low shot into the net.
