LISS Athletic reached the next round of the Puma Engineering League Cup after winning 6-2 at home to Broughton on Saturday.

The hosts got off to a shaky start as Shane Vidler gave Broughton the lead in the 24th minute.

Joe Windibank then doubled Broughton’s advantage on 30 minutes.

Liss’ comeback started when Tommy Woodward pulled a goal back in the 43rd minute. Alex Miroy then equalised, and Scott Cooper’s 70th-minute goal put Liss 3-2 ahead.

Miroy scored his second in the 78th minute, and Aaron Fennemore’s 85th and 89th-minute strikes sealed the 6-2 win.

Liphook United are also through to the next round after winning 2-1 at home to Netley Central Sports on Saturday.

Ricky Long’s 43rd-minute goal gave Liphook the lead, but Danny Longman equalised for the visitors in the 75th minute.

Steve Harding’s 90th-minute goal sent Liphook into the next round.

AFC Petersfield are out of the competition after crashing to a comprehensive 6-0 defeat at home to Headley United.

Rob Fry gave the visitors the lead in the 20th minute, and Richard McCann then helped himself to a hat-trick.

An own goal made it 5-0, before Dan Errington completed the scoring.
