LISS Athletic are in eighth place in the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division after a win and a defeat.

Liss started their week with an impressive 2-1 win at Winchester Castle last Wednesday evening.

Josh Benfield gave the visitors the lead in the 11th minute, and Jake Bourton doubled Liss’ advantage on 23 minutes.

Greg Cooper pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 89th minute, but Liss held on for the three points.

Liss then slipped to a 4-1 defeat at home to East Hampshire rivals Clanfield on Monday evening.

Benfield gave Liss the lead in the 20th minute, but Harry Potter equalised for the visitors on 48 minutes.

Darren Ferguson made it 2-1 to Clanfield in the 57th minute, and Potter scored his second on 72 minutes to make it 3-1 to the Peel Park outfit.

Joseph McIntosh completed the scoring when he made it 4-1 to Clanfield in the 88th minute.

The three points leave Clanfield in seventh place in the league table.
