The home side started on the front foot and deservedly took the lead when Owen Milne finished into the roof of the net at the second attempt.
Liss got themselves back on level terms thanks to a superb free kick into the bottom corner by Brandon Jewell.
The visitors took the lead for the first time when Lee Caldwell gave away a penalty and received a yellow card for the challenge. Jewell stepped up and confidently dispatched the spot-kick to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at half time.
Liss extended their lead in the second half when Jake Pepall let fly with a 20-yard shot which went past Clanfield keeper Ashley Wright and into the corner of the net.
Clanfield pulled a goal back five minutes from time when an Oli Amos free kick was met with a good header by Luke Grice, but the home side were unable to find an equaliser as Liss claimed the three points.
Clanfield boss Lee Blakely said: “That was a very frustrating performance from the lads and what we produced in the second half was unacceptable.
“We should be winning games at home and dominate for the whole game, dictating the play for 90 minutes, not 30 minutes. We gifted them all their goals and if you make it easy for the opponents to score you will always lose games.
“We need to be stronger mentally and have lost too many games in this manner this season.
“It’s just so frustrating as I feel we should be ten to 12 points ahead of where we are in the league and should be pushing the top six, but the league does not lie.”
