LISS Athletic are in 11th place in the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League Senior Division after falling to a comprehensive 5-2 defeat at Hayling United on Saturday afternoon.

The home side took the lead in the seventh minute through Andy Brown’s goal, and Brown doubled his and Hayling’s tally for the afternoon on 17 minutes.

The visitors got back into the game thanks to an own goal in the 29th minute, but Kieran Carter made it 3-1 to Hayling on 40 minutes.

Ryan Jennings scored in the 46th minute to give the home side a 4-1 lead, before Dan Sharpe pulled a goal back for Liss on 50 minutes to make it 4-2.

Richie Carter completed the scoring for the afternoon when he made it 5-2 to Hayling in the 69th minute.

Elsewhere in the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League Senior Division on Saturday, Clanfield’s home match against Colden Common and Liphook United’s match at Locks Heath were both postponed.

AFC Petersfield were also frustrated by the weather on Saturday, as their match away at Upham in Division 1 of the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League was postponed.

THE cold weather also wreaked havoc with the scheduled programme of fixtures in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.

Alresford Town’s scheduled home match against Portland United at Arlebury Park was postponed, and Horndean’s scheduled home match against Brockenhurst at Five Heads Park also fell foul of the elements.
