LISS Athletic are in fourth place in the Puma Engineering Hampshire Premier League Senior Division after earning a comprehensive 6-2 victory at sixth-placed Infinity on Saturday afternoon.
Lenny Burney helped himself to four goals for the visitors, and Tommy Woodward and Perry Easton were also on target for the Newman Collard Playing Fields outfit.
Rich Adames and Steve Allen scored the goals for Infinity.
Liss manager Rich Bessey was delighted with the convincing win.
“We rested some players and had a very young back line,” said Bessey.
“Our oldest defender was 21 years old and we had a 19-year-old goalie.
“Infinity are one of the dirtiest teams I have come across and we went 1-0 down early doors.
“In the second half we were awarded two penalties and Lenny Burney scored both of them.
“We went to a 3-5-2 formation and Perry Easton then scored with a cross that lobbed the keeper.
“Lenny then scored two more to take him to 29 goals for the season.
“Lenny has worked for his goals this season and I hope he wins the top goalscorer award.
“Tommy Woodward also scored and it was another good win for us.”
