PETERSFIELD manager Jim Macey has stepped down from the role after only six games in charge.

The Rams boss quit on Sunday morning following his side’s humiliating 10-0 league defeat at Blackfield and Langley the previous afternoon.

That came off the back of the 7-0 thrashing at home by Hamble Club in the league last Tuesday.

The remaining first team coaching staff – Shane Brayson, Tim Farmer and Mark Summerhill – will now be collectively running the team until any further announcements are made.

This started with the trip to Newport IOW?in the Hampshire Senior Cup last night (Tuesday).

Macey has decided to quit football altogether for now and he questioned the commitment of players in the modern game in his parting comments.

He said:?“After many successful years in football as a player and manager, especially in Wessex League football, I think the time is right to call it a day.

“I’ve had some great memories, played with and managed some top players. Unfortunately, money is a big part of Wessex football right now but still so many lads find it easy to miss games for silly reasons – they show no commitment.

“When I played we were loyal and committed at all times. It has been a pleasure – now I?will be spending time with my beautiful family.”

The Rams are at Brockenhurst on Saturday and home to Alresford next Tuesday.
