ALRESFORD Town had a mixed week with a win and a defeat.

The Magpies’ week got off to the perfect start with a 3-1 win against Fawley at Arlebury Park last Wednesday night (October 18), in the Southampton Senior Cup.

The home side took the lead in the fifth minute through Geoff Dunn, and Scott Gilham doubled Alresford’s advantage on 21 minutes.

Dunn then scored his second and Alresford’s third of the match in the 45th minute.

Kieran Roche pulled a goal back for the visitors on 48 minutes, but Alresford comfortably sealed their place in the next round.

The Magpies then lost 3-1 at home to Hamworthy United on Saturday afternoon in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

Dunn scored for the Magpies in the 12th minute, but goals from Brandon Randall, Dan Cann and Edgar Zanin gave the visitors the three points.
