ALRESFORD Town endured a mixed week with a defeat and a draw in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

The Magpies started their week with a 3-2 defeat at home to Shaftesbury last Wednesday night (October 25).

Jack Vallis broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 37th minute, and Mali Benjamin doubled Shaftesbury’s advantage on 39 minutes.

The visitors led 2-0 at half time, and Harry Beckley extended Shaftesbury’s advantage when he made it 3-0 in the 70th minute.

Chris Mason then pulled a goal back for the Magpies on 80 minutes.

Geoff Dunn’s goal in the 94th minute made it 3-2, but Shaftesbury held on for the three points.

Alresford responded from that defeat with a creditable 0-0 draw at home to high-flying Blackfield and Langley on Saturday afternoon.
